Wine 101 - Class Review

I had such a great time at the Wine 101 class at Whole Foods Short Pump last night.  Daniel our teacher, who works in the Specialty Department, was a fantastic instructor.  If you are already really knowledgeable about wine, this class is not for you, but if you are still a beginner, like me, it is awesome!  He talked about how wine is made and how the differences in the process impact the qualities of the wine.  He talked about the differences between Old World and New World wines. And he spoke a lot about the Terroir (French word) which is what elements do to the wine and why wine grown in different conditions or in a different year tastes different.  My favorite part of the class was the tasting.  Not only because I wanted to drink, but because he really took us through how to look, smell and taste and how to identify different things in the wine that will help to figure what you like in a wine.  The message he gave was, there is no right or wrong answer, when it comes to wine.  Wine is made to be enjoyed, and if you like it, it is a good bottle of wine.  Photo credit.

Next week, I am going to go to their Cheese 101 class.  Click here for their calendar.
