Picasso at the VMFA

If you are living under a rock, you may not have heard that the Pablo Picasso Exhibition is opening at the VMFA this Saturday.  The exhibit will run from Saturday, February 19th through Friday, May 15th.  The VMFA is the only East Coast venue for the exhibition’s seven-city international tour.  Needless to say, this is a BIG deal!  Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for students and seniors, free for children under 6.

Although the exhibit will cost a little cash there are some FREE things going on surrounding the opening of this event.  The 2BNB bus will be providing free transportation on a museum loop on Saturdays from 10am-6pm.  They operate the Museum loop Saturdays from 10am-6pm.  Two buses will drive a loop of popular Richmond museums, circulating approximately every 30 minutes beginning at the VMFA.  They will pick riders up at stops designated on a map on their website or along the route if flagged down.

If you are Picasso novice, do not worry that you won’t be able to fully understand the exhibition.  You can download a free audio tour!  Click here for download details.  There will also be a limited number of listening devices equipped with the audio tour available to rent on-site for $5, first come, first served.

While you are at the VMFA make sure to explore the other FREE exhibits.  And make time to have a Thrifty Lunch at the Best Café or splurge for some fine dining fare at Amuse.
